Résumé
Face à la crise écologique, sociale et existentielle contemporaine, ce projet explore les manières dont les habitants des zones littorales réinventent leurs modes de vie, de travail et d’habitation à travers un rapport renouvelé au vivant. Ces territoires, fragilisés par les effets du changement climatique, deviennent les lieux d’émergence de pratiques sensibles, collectives et ancrées localement, qui traduisent parfois une éco-anxiété mais aussi des formes de résonance avec le monde.
L’enjeu est d’étudier ces reconfigurations à partir d’approches audiovisuelles et participatives, mobilisant des outils issus de la recherche-création (ethnographie sensorielle, photo-élicitation, coconstruction filmique). Ces méthodes permettent de saisir les dimensions sensibles des transformations sociales à l’œuvre, au-delà de ce que l’écrit académique peut restituer.
Le projet vise à fédérer un réseau interdisciplinaire de chercheur·e·s autour de ces méthodologies, en s’appuyant notamment sur les dynamiques portées par les MSH. Il prolonge les travaux menés sur les collectifs alternatifs et les sociétés littorales, avec une attention aux conflits d’usage, aux formes d’attachement territorial et aux imaginaires écologiques.
À travers des terrains situés en Bretagne et en Normandie, il s’agit de documenter, analyser et partager des récits incarnés sur la manière d’« habiter la Terre », en croisant sciences humaines, arts visuels et savoirs situés. Cette démarche entend contribuer à une compréhension renouvelée de nos liens au vivant et à l’élaboration de formes partagées de connaissance.

In response to the contemporary ecological, social and existential crisis, this project explores how coastal inhabitants are reinventing their ways of living, working and dwelling through renewed relationships with the living world. These territories, increasingly vulnerable to the effects of climate change, are becoming sites of emerging, locally rooted and collective practices that are affective and attentive. These practices sometimes express eco-anxiety, but also forms of resonance with the world.
The aim is to examine these reconfigurations through audiovisual and participatory approaches, drawing on tools from practice-based research (sensory ethnography, photo-elicitation, collaborative filmmaking). Such methods make it possible to grasp the affective and sensory dimensions of ongoing social transformations—dimensions often beyond the reach of conventional academic writing.
The project seeks to bring together an interdisciplinary network of researchers around these methodologies, based on the dynamics fostered by the MSHs (Maisons des Sciences de l’Homme). It extends existing research on alternative collectives and coastal communities, with a focus on land-use conflicts, forms of place attachment, and ecological imaginaries.
Through fieldwork conducted in Brittany and Normandy, the project aims to document, analyse, and share embodied narratives about ways of “inhabiting the Earth”, by bringing together the human sciences, visual arts, and situated knowledges. This approach seeks to contribute to a renewed understanding of our relationships with the living world, and to the development of shared forms of knowledge.
